Cody lives in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of TRIPLE THREAT Productions & Studios, where he currently teaches voice, acting and dance, as well as produces musical theatre productions. Cody is also the Theatre Department Chair at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts (LVA), teaching Musical Theatre. He also freelances as a director, choreographer, and actor. Before teaching at LVA, Cody served in a variety of positions in higher education and professional theatre. Cody was the Director of the musical theatre program and Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre Studies at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He was a full-time lecturer of musical theatre at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, teaching in their BFA program. Cody also taught acting, voice, dance, and other musical theatre classes at San Diego State University where he received his MFA in Musical Theatre. He taught dance at Brigham Young University where he received his BFA in musical theatre. In addition, Cody has taught acting and dance for multiple summers at Interlochen Center for the Arts -Institute program and served as director and choreographer for Interlochen's main stage summer musical production. Cody has been teaching in various studios, academies, schools, and universities since 2003. Cody has also served as Associate Artistic Director at Artisan Center Theatre in Texas, Artistic Director at Kre8ive Fine Arts Academy in Illinois, and Producer & Managing Director at the Jackson Hole Playhouse, in Wyoming.
During his undergraduate studies at BYU where Cody was on dance and musical theatre scholarships, Cody toured with the Young Ambassadors, the Men’s Chorus, and the Folk Dance Ensemble. At the same time, Cody also toured and performed as the lead singer with a progressive rock band, Hourglass, recorded an album, “Subconscious,” and enjoyed writing the vocals (melodies/harmonies).
Cody has been performing and training since age six, beginning in different studios and performing groups in Sacramento, California. Early on, he began performing throughout many countries in Europe as well as the eastern United States. As a child he worked as a professional model and actor in commercials, as well as a child singer in operas. His greatest love was his performing group where he trained as a triple threat and toured in ‘Broadway Revue’ style productions being able to channel all three of his favorite talents: acting, singing and dancing.
Although Cody continued to work in film and television on the side, he began to focus more on musical theatre. His first professional regional theater contract was in 1999. Since then Cody has been performing lead roles in theaters across the nation, including: New York City Center Theater, Broadway National Tour of 42nd Street, La Jolla Playhouse, Pioneer Theater, Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Tuacahn Amphitheater, San Diego Musical Theatre, Fullerton Civic Light Opera, Jackson Hole Playhouse, and other regional theaters. He has also performed with Holland America Cruise Lines, and Lagoon Theme Park. Cody has performed in over 30 different countries including a six-month contract in China as a guest soloist for the grand opening of the Venetian hotel/casino in Macau.
Cody’s favorite roles include: Billy Lawlor in 42nd Street – National Tour, Don Lockwood in Singin' in the Rain, Munkastrap in Cats, Orin Scrivello D.D.S. in Little Shop of Horrors, Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun, Danny Zuko in Grease, Bobby Child in Crazy for You, Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Fred Astaire in Backwards in High Heels, Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid, Joey Evans in Pal Joey, Henrik Egerman in A Little Night Music, Frankie in Forever Plaid, Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, Ren McCormack in Footloose, Tommy Djilas in The Music Man, and Benjamin Pontipee in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
Cody has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Angela Lansbury, Bebe Neuwirth, Marvin Hamlisch, Chita Rivera, Ann Reinking, Randy Skinner, Sarah Rice, and Anita Gillette, just to name a few. Cody has always loved working on new projects including those with talents like Cheri Steinkellner, Georgia Stitt, Ryan Scott Oliver, and Pulitzer prize winning Doug Wright.
Cody also enjoys directing and choreographing and has worked on 18 musicals in this capacity including productions for ACT, WSU, SIUC, SDSU, McLeod Summer Playhouse, Interlochen Center for the Arts and other professional companies, and venues.
Cody's performing tours have taken him to Europe, China, Central America, and South America. He founded Triple Threat Productions & Studios, where he produces youth theatre, manages, directs, choreographs, and teaches classes. He also ran Kre8ive Fine Arts Academy serving as the Artistic Director where he did much of the same work, including producing two performance companies. Cody has worked at Interlochen Center for the Arts for multiple summers where he directed and choreographed the headlining musical productions. He is the proud father of three children.
